Barcelona – A prayer for peace

We are the oppressors. We are the oppressed. The ones who are killed in the Barcelona attack, and the ones who killed them. There is no other. That would be the first step in cleaning up the mess that we are in, every week, every month, one terror attack at a time. The wrench in the pit of the stomach continues as more information is revealed about the attack. More fear, death, horror and terror.

Take a pause and think where it stems from. It is those divisions that we have built. Rich and poor, white and black, villager and city dweller, migrant and first generation. It stems from that horrible, scary place of supremacy and superiority felt over anyone whom we consider inferior than us.

For the sake of humanity, the next time when you make a casual remark over caste, or borders, food and culture differences, catch yourself and don’t let that beast propagate. When you are intelligent-ifying your argument cerebrally over drinks in a casual environment with friends, of how Asians are or Americans are or Africans are, Christian, Jews, or Muslims behave – stop. Nip in bud that is out of control now. Say with me, ‘I will be one evil less on this beautiful earth that we are custodians of and have messed up so very massively.’ It is one of us who was killed today. It was one of us who killed them.

Be that hippy pacifist that the world so miserably needs with immediate effect. Be one chaos less. Be one racist, divisive, sexist, anti-humanist, less and it will be a great favour on humanity. Choose what you can be. The world is riding on the few good men and women around. It is not enough to say that you are not the terror. You have to say it out loud that you are against the terror, the hate and misery that will be propagated. Be the calm, be the love, be the peace, be the compassion, be the unity, be the togetherness, be the humanity that we all desperately and definitely deserve. It was about time a long time ago.

My prayers for the innocent victims of one more terrorist attack. My hugs to all who are shedding a tear with me.
